Windows consumes too much internet data in background processes and it is a problem which is often faced by the users. There are so many software uses internet data in background to check their updates and download the updates. The users who uses mobile hotspot to surf the internet on their system are facing this problem too much. The students who have not a wifi connection, they are unable to watch the lectures because as they connect their system to mobile hotspot, the data limit is reached after few minutes or an hour.
There is a way by using this you can fully block/turn off/stop the background data consumption/usage, if you are not using data and your system is connected to your mobile hotspot, no need to worry, almost no internet data will be consumed by your system.
There is an option of Metered connection on Windows 10, by turning on the option you can block the background data.
How can we turn on the Metered Connection on Windows 10?
Step 1 :- Click on the Wifi icon ( 
) present on taskbar (right side).

Step 2 :- Now click on the properties of the connected wifi.
Step 3 :- Properties of the connected wifi will be opened, just scroll down.
Step 4 :- You can see Metered connection as "OFF", click on that and turn it "ON".
Now you have successfully turned off the background internet data consumption.
Note :- You will have to follow the steps every time when you will connect your system to new Wifi or mobile hotspot. If you change the name of hotspot then also you will have to turn on the metered connection.
